  • SMART GROWTH COMES TO TOWN

It’s a new day in Franklin Tennessee, and the sun is shining brighter. A secret late night meeting over the weekend in which the Mayor and the members of BOMA met behind closed doors is the reason why.

After many concerned property owners and residents contested and voiced their opinions regarding all the unbridled growth and The Proposed Hundred Million,(100,000,000.00) – that’s a lot of zeros – City Hall, The members and the Mayor  decided to cease any and all building permits within the city for a year and in a change of heart and direction they will focus on improving the  infrastructure, while only allowing new  building permits for redevelopment of existing structures to be allowed for commercial and residential.

One of the members off the record stated that they were starting to feel guilty about how this  historical and amazing community had changed and that they had one of the Five Purse Strings allowing it, noting that BOMA had approved 16 budget increases in a two year period.

“No longer listening to developers and beginning to listen to the citizens seems like the more ethical thing to do “, they said.

“I’m sleeping better at night now after these decisions have been made.

And I look forward to restoring and preserving what’s left of the fabric of this amazing community.”

Also announced was that the new City Hall will be put on hold and the property will be sold and developed with restraints that would only allow for integration into the amazing historical downtown area creating event spaces, shopping recreation and more, hinting at possibly even moving the location of the merry-go-rounds bizarre location at The Factory to downtown.

The new city hall will now be in a building purchased for a third of the cost of what was going to be spent, the building has multiple cafeterias and recreation areas.

The cafeteria will be open to the public, suggesting and inviting citizens and taxpayers to interact with city employees about the future direction of Franklin.

This will keep Franklin taxes lower as numerous residents had requested, and allow for many possibilities with this great location for a SMARTGROWTH development in the downtown area with shopping, event spaces, a music venue, restaurants and more.

Finally Franklin is Growing to meet the problems and set a precedent for other straddled communities.

    Smart Growth is finally here!

Unfortunately this is Satire – Thanks for reading, We hope you enjoyed it.
